Season 3?

Last November, this podcast went “on hiatus” for a bit. The “personal matters” I mentioned at the time included the arrival of a new job in San Antonio, Texas, and the associated move and all the events surrounding that.

Unfortunately, they also included the unexpected deaths of my sister-in-law, my wife’s aunt and, most recently, my brother Mark. It simply wasn’t a good time to be working on On Garner Road.

And yet, these experiences remind me once again how much like my old neighborhood the Internet is. There are tons of strangers, of course, but there are friends, old a new, who step forward with a kind word, the offer of assistance, and as much love as I can accept.

And so, I can tell you that there will be a Season 3 of On Garner Road. I’m in the process now of arranging interviews and coordinating the myriad background activities that go into putting this together. If you have a suggestion for guests, or if you’d like to participate, let me know! I’ve set up a contact form to make it easy to communicate with me.

Oh, and you might notice a new look to the site. I’ve moved it to wordpress.com, mainly to save money. Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement, however!

Takin' a break

Because of some personal matters that are occupying my time, there will be no On Garner Road podcast during the week of November 8th, 2010. My apologies, but there will hopefully be a new one the following week.

Episode 22: Which is better: Pulp Fiction or The Empire Strikes Back?

Nathan Chase is a web designer who can not only answer the titular question, but he’s also a drummer.

See his work at Flickchart or visit his home page.

Episode 21: the Engineer in the kitchen

My guest this week is Patricia Sharpley; she’s a software engineer with a passion for cooking, writing, and photography. She particularly fancies cupcakes and has innovative uses for bacon grease.

Her blog is called Brownies for Dinner.

Episode 20: the Southern Belle

Shelly King is a writer from South Carolina who currently lives in Silicon Valley. She thinks that even nerds are looking for love.

You can find out more about her on her blog.

Episode 19: the Speculator

Aden Pennington is a Yankee who lives in Texas and is currently writing an alternate history novel set in Lawrence, Kansas, in the 1800′s.

You can find her on her blog or at FriendFeed.

Episode 18: The Critic

Jandy Stone is a writer, producer, and film critic based in Los Angeles. She has an advanced degree in English Language and Literature, and she’s passionate about TV, sci-fi, and indie music.

Find her on FriendFeed as faithx5, on Row Three, or on her blog.
